The autism diagnostic and consultancy service is one of the services of the CERAC Day Centre.
Families with a child suspected to be suffering from ASD need an explicit, understandable diagnosis, a prognosis, and adequate professional support and counselling. At Autisme la Garriga, we address these needs expertly and humanely.
The diagnostic and consultancy service is free.
In our diagnostic and counselling service, we tend to requests by families, professionals, educational and mental health centres, and public administrations.
This service is made up by a team of professionals from the areas of neurology, psychiatry, psychology, education and family counselling.
Diagnosing autistic spectrum disorder is a complex process that, in order to carry it out with guarantees, requires an experienced multidisciplinary team and the possibility of carrying out prolonged behavioural observations continued for 24 hours, if necessary.
The methods employed in the multidisciplinary diagnosis of child-onset psychopathologies include an initial interview, one or multiple semi-structured behavioural observations and an overview meeting. Once the diagnosis has been made, a written report will be written for the family members or institution who made the request.
The EAP CERAC (psycho-educational counselling team) was approved by the Department of Education of the Local Government of Catalonia in 1984, for the functions of preventing, assessing, orienting and tracking autistic spectrum disorder within Catalonia.
